EV Technician Course 2025 is a free government and private sector training initiative aimed at equipping youth with essential skills in Electric Vehicle (EV) maintenance and green energy. Offered in selected ITIs and NSTIs across five states, the program provides certification and placement support to help students enter the fast-growing EV industry.
Launched by the Directorate General of Training (DGT), Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), in collaboration with Shell India and Edunet Foundation, this EV training scheme includes classroom sessions, practical lab work, and hands-on experience in EV repair, battery technology, and safety systems. Successful candidates will receive a co-branded certificate and job assistance.
What is the EV Technician Course 2025?
The EV Technician Course 2025 is part of the Green Skills and Electric Vehicle Training Program introduced in June 2025. It aims to prepare youth for employment in electric mobility and renewable energy sectors. Supported by Shell India under its CSR initiative, the course is being conducted in selected Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) and National Skill Training Institutes (NSTIs) across India.
Students undergo training in Shell-supported EV labs designed to meet industry requirements, especially for roles in EV companies, automotive repair services, and clean mobility startups.
EV Training Course Types and Duration
- 240-hour Advanced EV Technician Course at 4 NSTIs
- 90-hour EV Job-Ready Course at 12 ITIs (with labs)
- 50-hour Green Skills Introductory Course at other ITIs (without labs)
The curriculum covers electric vehicle components, battery systems, digital diagnostic tools, and safety procedures. Over 250 instructors are also being trained to deliver standardized and high-quality training in participating institutes.

States Offering EV Technician Course 2025
The first phase of the program is being implemented in five Indian states:
- Delhi-NCR
- Gujarat
- Maharashtra
- Tamil Nadu
- Karnataka
Additional states and training centers will be added in upcoming phases. Interested candidates should inquire at their nearest ITI or NSTI to check course availability.
Eligibility Criteria for EV Training
- Current students of ITIs or NSTIs
- Youth seeking employment in EV and green energy sectors
- No prior experience required for introductory or job-ready courses
- Basic knowledge of electrical or mechanical trades preferred for the advanced course
How to Apply for EV Technician Course 2025
Step 1: Visit a nearby ITI or NSTI participating in the DGT-Shell EV Training Program.
Step 2: Complete the application form and submit documents such as Aadhaar card, recent photograph, and educational certificates.
Step 3: Upon selection, attend the training as per schedule. After successful completion, receive a certificate jointly issued by Shell India and DGT.
