Nijut Moina Scheme First Installment Released
On October 6, 2024, the Assam government launched the Nijut Moina Scheme at the Veterinary College Ground, Guwahati, with over 24,000 female students attending. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma explained the scheme’s benefits.
The scheme provides monthly scholarships (stipends):
- ₹1,000 per month for girls in Classes 11 and 12
- ₹1,250 per month for college students
- ₹2,500 per month for post-graduate students
The money will be directly transferred to students’ bank accounts by the 11th of each month, even during school breaks. This helps students continue their education without money worries.
This program is aimed at reducing dropout rates and plans to introduce similar support for boys in the future. However, married students and those in private schools are not eligible.
